My Saluki Turk arrived yesterday 54” 50lb @ 28”.
Now logic tells me that an ultra light, short, fast bow should be unstable and not really that accurate but these bows seem to defy logic, today I was shooting it out to 70 yards and felt it was at least as accurate as my Longbow maybe even a little better. Considering it was my first time out with the Bow I was very impressed with how easy it was to shoot and with a little tuning I think I can get better groups with this little beauty (Anybody know the brace height of a Turk should be?).
Shooting it reminded me a little of the Formaster if you don’t get that back pressure just right on release it seems to pull you string hand forward. My only criticism was that the fleshy part of my hand at full draw is pushed up level with the arrow shelf and discovered to my discomfort a few arrow fletchings weren’t trimmed as good as they could have been.
It’s pretty fast but still close enough to my Longbows performance that adjustment was quick and only minimal.
It’s very beautiful looking bow and very addictive to shoot.

Well I've had nearly two weeks with this Bow and it still puts a BIG smile on my face. It has the potential to shoot as accurately as any Recurve but is quite demanding on shooting form, which is a good thing in some ways.
Going to my first tourney this weekend so I'll let you know how it stacks up against the other Recurve competition.
Like to see them think up a reason to ban this bow, then again the Recurves dont seem to moan about the equipment rules as much as the Longbow crowd.

Interesting bow, gracefully small, quite a pretty beauty IMO. I've been eyeing Saluki's for a while.
Just curious, why didja buy this bow? Typically a targeteer wants a lithe, long limbed stable bow - is this perhaps for, dare I say - hunting? Well, you've got string silencers on!
I can't imagine why the li'l Saluki would be banned at a recurve event ... unless someone just didn't like its inherent aesthetic "Turkish Mongol" look.
Nah, what folks would ban bows for aesthetic reasons alone?

The 'Turk' came up for sale 2nd hand and couldn't wait 9+ months for my Ibex that's on order, thinking this keep me occupied while I'm waiting.
The string silencers came with the Bow and my first attempt at making a string came out a tad short.
As for banning, well it seems if you do well over here in England they start looking at your Bow looking for reasons to ban you. Of course your shooting has nothing to do with amount of dedication and practice you put into the sport, according to some narrow minded archers think you can buy a particular make of bow and win loads of tourneys just like that, and being competitive in England is some sort of crime.
Do I sound bitter, shouldn't be really it's only a small minority, they just seem to have the loadest voices
n
Rob Glad you like the Bow, I have to say it's one of the most enjoyable bows I've ever shot.

Got back from my shoot today, windy in the open and bitterly cold, didn't think I shot that well but it turned out I beat the Barebow guys shooting Fita rigs 3 fingers under. Not bad for my first tourney with the Turk.
<img>n Sorry about the silly hat but it did keep my ears warm!

You look like a Mongol who lost his horse
Congrats on beating the big rigs.
You'll have to describe your release...I remember you saying it was a bit unorthodox. It looks like your drawing hand wrist is bent...is that just an optical illusion?

Steve the bow looks great!n I will have to thank your Grand Mother for giving you that tea cosey and telling you it was a hat,
From this moment on when you shoot the Turk, you will be know as Steve Khan!n
I will be shooting a Saluki Orxy for the first time, at the Florida trad championships, a tough shoot that i have never shot well in, more to do with top flight competitors than my poor form.

Just got back from another cold days tourney shooting with the Saluki it was a tough shoot and only managed second with what I considered a respectable score as only one arrow between us, (didn't wear my lucky hat!) still on a big learning curve.
The highlight of the the day which I and everybody in earshot found very amusing was when a guy asked me about the Turk and how it shot, I explained it was a great bow but demanded good form otherwise it can be a handfull, he then proceeded to give me a lesson in proper shooting form, I just put on a polite smile and looked interested while eveyone else looked on with great amusment.

What brace are you shooting your Turk at? I just managed to purchase one 50" 50#@28" (Turk). It was purchased from Lucas at Denton Hill the year we visited. The fellow shot it for a month, and it has been sitting on his bow rack since.
Chatoo, once again is miffed! I have managed to purchase two Saluki's before he has recieved the one he ordered . Of course he has benefited, he owns the first one I bought, the Oryx. He has made it available to me, which I greatly appreciate.
By the way email me at steinbring@adelphia.
et I have a couple pictures I need to send you.

Erik you are SAD as is Morley, i take full credit for the current Saluki craze i have been looking at Saluki bows for over 6 years i have met the bowyer 3 times and i have really done my homework on theses bows. last year i finall ordered a Damascus Bow (which not on his website) but i have seen one up close and it is ultra radical, and when it comes in a few weeks I and only i will have one.
Yes I am pissed that Erik and Morley have got their bows befor me. and i have not enjoyed their sad crowing about that factn
On a positive note down here in fl we will have 3 saluki bows, the Ibex Oryx and Damascus in the 50 lbs range when mine comes in we will post an indepth test review.

Just because you window shopped or kicked tires for six years doesn't mean you get to take credit for another individuals purchase. Besides what are you complaining about? You have an Oryx. Or is that it took you "over 6 years" to make a decision and finally open that thick billfold of yours. :bigsmyl2:

You may call it tire kicking, i call it in depth research, unlike you Voodoo, i am not a bow hoe!n
And when that baby 50 inch Oryx comes in we will have a head to head bow test shoot out, and then post the results!!!!n
That billfold better get us to Switzerland in 07
