Here's my setup:n
70" wood composite longbow, 50# @ 30", string nock 5/8" above 90 degrees, ash arrows spined 55-60.

Looking at my leather strike plate, it appears the arrow is wearing on the plate a bit. I'm not hearing anything odd upon release (like a *CLACK* of the arrow hitting the rest).

so, what are some factors for strike plate wear?

You should always get some wear because the arrow will always push off of the strike plate during at least the first phase of paradox.

As the string comes off the fingers, the arrow bends with the ends going away from the bow and the middle pressing against the bow. This is why you have to put the arrow on the other side of the bow if you shoot with a thumb ring....in that case the arrow bends the opposite way since it comes off the thumb in the other direction.

Your setup sounds fine to me. I suspect most of the wear you see is from drawing the arrow. As Todd says, with reasonable tune the arrow lifts off and ideally touches nothing on the way out. You could put some talcum powder on your riser to see if the fletching touches anywhere. If it does not you can be sure you have good clearance upon release.
