For a long while, my goal has been to shoot 250 on the multicolor 18-meter target.

Recently, I shot three consecutive games in practice -- each one was exactly a 250. Brilliant!n
Next day, I shot three more games -- first one was a 255. So, you might think, I am really starting to get it -- next one will be even better. Of course, you KNOW what happened in the next game -- down to 243. And the last game -- now that I am back where I "belong" -- a 249.

So -- the goal is a powerful magnet that can pull you to great results. And, if you exceed the goal, it can pull you DOWN so that you average what is expected. Argh! Wonder how long it will take to get a new goal to 'set'.

Don't know if this will help but every time I reach a goal, I immediately move the bar higher. Keeps me striving and mentally it keeps me from thinking something like "that's how good a shooter I am".

This morning I shot a "practice" FITA 600 (two 300s) and managed a 497 (barebow recurve). That was my first attempt at the FITA 18m round although I've shot the Vegas 450 and the NFAA Indoor 300.

Needless to say, my goal is now to break 500 the next time. Had fun and actually learned a few things so, despite the disappointing score it was a good morning.

Oh and reference your post above, my first 300 game was a 252, followed by a 245. (smiley face goes here)n
