I can see both sides. Take the high-wrist grip for example. It may help minimize bow torque, but it requires muscle. Muscle control is imprecise and thus difficult to repeat, (even if you've "mastered" it) especially after a long day of shooting. It is therefore no longer considered proper form. A lower grip position is more easily repeated.
Also, that article is not the only place I've heard about the gradual opening of the fingers. I first read it in a book by Bernie Pellerite called "Idiot Proof Archery". Bernie has a list of credentials a mile wide ().
On page 175 of his book he sates "As the contraction increases, it slowly moves the elbow back,...stretching out the fingers on the string, causing them to start losing their hold"
Now clearly, anyone who uses a clicker cannot let their fingers slowly open because they'd never be able to get through the clicker, so this technique wouldn't work for them.

I read Pellerite's book too. He is almost exclusively a compound shooter and coach. He gives passing attention to recurves and finger shooters but I don't consider him an authority and that gradual relaxing the fingers is just further proof. He also advises having the shoulders in line with the upper drawing arm instead of the bow arm. This is counter to the "power triangle" recommended by Olympic/target form.
