Thanks chums- There weren't many stickbows there, just ten longbows and fewer recurves, but the three longbowmen in my group had the best scores and a good rivalry. (The host club's Trail Shoot is concurrent as is a money shoot for compounds and many archers do not also enter the NFAA part.) Distances ranged from 4 to 101 yards, with half over 40 yards and a half a dozen over 70, in mixed woodland, brush, ridges and canyons. There was pleasant weather, three good meals a day available and free camping on the range.
My score was 63% of the top compound score which was pleasing considering the distances and terrain. I used a 21st Century Edge, 70", drawing about 43 @ 30" and full length tapered cedar arrows weighing 480 grains. My point on range with three fingers under is 55 yards.
We shot 70 targets over 3 days, shooting from 8AM til about 1.30. Hope to see some of you next year. - lbf
