Bender and I both shot this one on Saturday, with longbows and wooden arrows. It is a postal event held at multiple sites so the results are not yet in. It is a 450 round on the gold center target and I believe it must be the FITA 450 round. We don't shoot a lot of indoor hereabouts as our outdoor field ranges are useable year round. So we don't often see the fancy scores you might back east, though the Traditional Recurve record held by internationalist Mark Applegate is a fancy 413.
I shot a disappointing 309, though that matched last year's senior best. Bender was in the 340s, but short of his best in the 350s and of the record around 360. But he has a high anchor and can actually aim! I just point and yearn for it and the force was not with me at all times. lbg

Steve, I don't think your score was bad at all for not shooting often. By my calculations, you shot 68% with a longbow and wooden arrows. I have yet to try indoors with a longbow but will start at the end of this month when my bow arrives. In PA, we mostly shoot the 600 round. Right now I average around 440 on the 600 round in tournaments with a Wes Wallace Mentor and aluminum arrows(2016's). Ten to fifteen higher in practice. That is 73%. My PB was last night with a 479(practice at club) or 79%. I'm in no way a championship shooter but I can stay competitive at most shoots. My goal is to shoot 80%. I hope I can do what you did with a longbow. I shoot the same as you, concentrate on the gold and release, no aiming for me, my point is somewhere on the floor in front of target. When I go outside this spring, I hope to develop some sort of gap shooting for field. As far as wooden arrows, I have shot them from the same bow as above and have noticed very little drop in score. I enjoy all disciplines of archery, it is fun for me to see an arrow fly from such simple types of equipment.
