I know my biggest problem is anticipating the release. For years I have been working on developing a form or technique that will stand up to this problem. Shooting 300 rounds has given me a semblance of a competitive atmosphere in which to practice these techniques and put them to the test. So far, no golden technique, either mental or physical, has emerged, although many times I thought I had it figured out. If only it were as easy as training with a gun. An empty cartridge in the mix will quickly show if you are anticipating the shot. Knowing that it's in the mix forces you to be mindful of letting the gun fire itself while simply squeezing the trigger. Today I got back to working with the formaster after a few years of neglecting it. It would be the perfect training device if it could somehow make aiming critical, but since the arrow flops to the ground, aiming is irrelevant. I actually have one of those laz-air trainers that shoots a laser when you release....maybe I'll combine that with the formmaster and try to see where the laser hits each shot. ....just rambling.... |
