Sounds very similar to an article by Curtis Hermann that appeared in the Fall/1998 issue of Instinctive Archer magazine, titled "Antelope Stix". Wands were made up from redwood lath, 32" long and the tips were sprayed dull black with a cross of white tape. Stuck into the ground so that the center of the cross is 27" to 28", the roving wand simulates the heart kill zone of an antelope. Sounds like great roving fun to me, and the game has a lotta elements of archery golf. |

There used to be a popular NAA novilty round called the "Wand Shoot". It was shot at a pine wand 2" wide and 6' high at 100 yards for men and 60 yards for women. The contestents shot either 30 or 36 arrows. From my understanding this round had its roots in 19th century England. |

The "Wand" is 6' high, 2" wide and is shot at 80yds. I don't think there is a differing distance for the ladies. But I will check |

Not sure where the 80 yard distance came from. All books I have from the 40s on cite 100y/60y for the want shoot. In addition, the British Longbow Society rules that I looked at say 100/60. |
