We have no target archery around here, only 3D animal targets, thus the question -- what is a l00 hundred York Round and a 180 Clout. Any other info about target archery would be appreciated. Thanks. Robend

York round as per GNAS (Grand National Archery Society) rules. 6doz arrows @ 100yds, 4 doz arrows @ 80yds, 2doz arrows @ 60yds 122cm faces are used 5zone scoring is used. Gold 9 points, Red 7 points, Blue 5 points, Black 3 points, White 1 point

The Clout: A flag is set into the ground @ 180yds distance (for gents) 140yds (Ladies) & 100 or 120yds (juniors). the scoring if memory serves is 5-Gold, 4-Red, 3-Blue, 2-Black, 1-White. I am not sure about the number of arrows shot, but I feel it is around 5dozen, if I am wrong, I know there is somebody out there ready to pounce & put us right

Robendn Just to add to the confusion ,a B.L.B.S. (British Long Bow Society) York round is shot in the Victorian "Two Way Style". The scoring is exactly the same as Pete described in his reply but there are two sets of targets. Three arrows are shot, You the score the values, retrieve your arrows, turn around and shoot three arrows back up the field. The out right winner is the archer with the highest number of hits. VERY STRANGE ....VERY BRITISH ....FANTASTIC FUN

The clout round was and I believe still is a 36 arrow round.

Just to add to what Bill & Phil said; in the Clout Round, while the nominal target is a short flag stuck in the ground, there is a 15ft rope attached to it, marked off in 3ft (1yrd increments.) The rope is used to circumscribe a 30ft circle around the flag, which then constitutes the target zones. I hope I'm not confusing this! We just shot the Clout at the NAA Outdoor Championships and it is great fun. I just wish it was shot more often.

Your right on there Floxter , we should all shoot more clout rounds. It`s great fun and extremely skillfull. More Clout that what I say
