I just purchased a longbow from O.L. Adcock that he made up to be tested by Norb Mullaney. According to Norb, it is the first trad bow that he has tested that will shoot a 9gr/lb arrow over 200fps at 28" draw. You can view Norb's test report at [url=http://www.bowmaker.
et/test.htm]www.bowmaker.
et/test.htm[/url]n Next year at the National Traditional Championships, I ought to be able to use the same point of aim all the way out to 100yrds in the York Round. LOL

I spun the ACS endless strings used in that test - what an amazing bow design, nothing can touch it and it eats up recurves like they were tinker toyz. And ya gotta see his FITA freestyle longbow, too!

Rob, that's great news. My first order of business when I get was to take the measurements and have you spin up a string for it. Looks like now I'm good to go already. Yeah, O.L. was telling me that he's been playing around with longbow limbs for a FITA bow with a wood riser and so far the results are amazing. Plus, no limb torque, unlike normal recurve limbs. I understand Win-Win puts some concave in some of their limbs, but given the recurve geometry they won't accept the degree of concave that a longbow limb will. Wouldn't that be something, to see longbow limbs in the 2008 Olympics?

There are already recurve limbs available with very little torque. Border make all their bows (flatbows, trad recurve and target limbs) in this way.

IMO, I haven't seen or heard of any longbow that can even come close to the performance of an Adcock ACS longbow. And, there is no question that it can easily rival - and beat - the best of recurves in terms of pure arrow speed.
While the basics of the ACS design have been known for quite some time, OL absolutely perfected it to the point where speed and stablity are dramatically the best you'll find anywhere.
If I was ever to become serious about Olympic FITA, I'd seriously consider using an Adcock FITA longbow. I only wish the ACS was around 30 years ago ...

Then I suggest Rob that you try a Border flatbow (or longbow as you might call it). I don't want to turn this into an advert, because to do so would serve no purpose, but if you are interested in bows that are both fast and stable then you really should give them a second look.
Of course, if you're happy with your current choice of equipment, then that's great. Good shooting, whatever you shoot.

I couldn't believe my good fortune. I purchase a used Adcock ACS online this summer. It's a takedown backed with Bull Snake, 65", 52@30" and I plan on many hunting trips with it.
I named it, 'Medusa' and she's quite a bow!n My arrows are 30 1/4" Gold Tip XT 5575 with 125 gr head and two 20 gr weights, plus insert and adapter screw. Arrows weigh in at around 450 with the black shafts(Hunter) and 475 with the Traditional shaft. I like this set up so far
I was planning on getting a bow built by Mike Treadway (from NC and has the Treadway Take-down system) when this bow came along. Mike's bows are VERY nice too; and if you get a chance, try one!
