All -
Picked up one on these two weeks ago. (Sort of a freebee)68" /#65 @28". The supplied string, AMO 68", yield about a 9.5" brace height. Needless to say, it's a bit of a dog. 160 fps +/-. I usually just make a longer string, and start playing. Just wondering, if any of you nice folks, know anything about this bow, and if I can safely bring it down to 7+" range. Trying to save some time and dacron.
Thanksn

Wondering if anything is wrong with it. I've seen 34-lb bows braced between 8.5 and 9 that shoot faster than that. Seems like you should get a better return when you draw 65 lbs.

Possibly not. The heavier bows shoot heavier arrows and so impart more Kenetic Energy. But as the arrow is heavier it's also slower. Remember, my Hoyt / 1816 is pushing 180. Most of my longbows in that weight range are in the 175+ area. Just wondering, if there was anything "different" about this one. Again the price was right, so I can't argue too much. Probably also need to try a lighter arrow, that was with a 2117. Might try some 2016s for kicks.
