My Bob Lee takedown is three years old and still shoots fine. I really like the extra weight that comes with a three-piece. It makes both the draw and the shot feel smoother and more stable.
So far, I haven't traveled with my Bob Lee. But if I ever did, I could pack it into a hard case just big enough to hold the bow and some arrows, instead of a long soft case, which is all I've seen for a one-piece recurve.

These days really not too much of a difference, TD technology is pretty much a science nowadays, .

Basic caveats:
More potential moving parts, more potential things to go wrong.

Slight increase in weight over a similar one-piece, due to the coupling mechanism, note the word "slight".

Bebnfits -
Quick weight change, by changing limbs
Easy to transport.

The rest is personal preference, I have several TDs, and they're fine (even the two Bear Mags, that blew up on me), personally I prefer a one piece bow, more astheticly pleaseing.

These other folks have more experience than I do, but I still have my likes and dislikes. I prefer 3pc takedowns LB's to one piece bows with one exception. My 2nd hand ACS is the best shooting 1 piece bow I have come across. Prefer tonkin cane/bamboo limbs with clear glass, cocobolo riser and 66-68" limbs in the 45# draw weight range. Hope this doesnt muddy the water too much.

IMO ...

A well made TD bow can be a joy to hold and shoot. The main advantage is both portability and having access to multiple limb lengths and draw weights without changing the same feel of the grip. A TD will be heavier mass weight than a one piece bow.

Having owned several Chek-Mate bows, I liked them all - extremely well designed and built, with fine performance!n
The important "thing" about a bow is finding one that becomes an extension of your shooting arm and you. Almost any quality bow will be better than the archer and your form and your arrows are way more important than your bow.
