i was watching the handicapping thread and liked what I saw. I have ofter thought about the idea of handicaping equipment/ styles. This makes a lot of sense to me. But will it work out mathmaticaly? what I need are some scores to work with. I am not sure what tournaments are most popular in other parts of the country so send me what you have. we need to limit it to paper scores for now since the scoures for 3 D will variy wildy on different courses. so send me some links. if you have scores in a file you can e-mail me at SUGGSRD@AOL.COM. AS I start to get some statistics I will post here.

This might be a starting place -- go to and click on Indoor State Championship. I'll see if I can dig up some national scores for you.

Same sight, New England Indoors, might also be good.

Might as well start indoors -- that is the season a lot of people are entering. And I think the handicap would be different, indoors vs outdoors. That is, lack of a sight becomes more of a handicap when you start shooting field archery.

This is a good start. I am wondering about the adult compound scores though. There seem to be a very small mumber of competetors. for this list do you think this is a complete list or just the top 10 percent of so?n

If you are talking about the National Indoors, try clicking on M (Male) Senior Compound -- I found 161 shooters.
The trouble comes when you get to Modern Longbow (6 shooters) and Traditional Longbow (7 shooters).

I think it would be interesting to take maybe the top two shooters in each category, create the handicap, post the handicap here, and then, when we shoot, we can add the handicaps to our scores and those of other equipment styles and see where we would have come out IF we had really shot with handicaps. In fact, perhaps we could use this forum as a database to capture such results, and we could incrementally refine your initial starting place to make the handicaps as realistic and fair as possible.
