Hi Dave,n
Might be interesting if we were to identify 'handicaps', or averages, then report on regular attempts to beat that average, then post what is holding us wherever we are, what is needed to move up to the next level, and how we are doing on it.
It is more complicated, but it focuses on process, on obstacles (common and otherwise), on change, on how successful that change was, and maybe even on helping each other -- not a bad focus. And it still mentions score, so we can still congratulate those who are breaking 400 for the field archery (I am not one of them, yet).
I'll start, and say that my last three scores (which I am very pleased with, although they don't match some of the scores being posted here by you eagle eyes) for last year were 356, 392, and 378 shooting traditional in the NFAA field round, for an average of 375.
My goal for this year is to join those of you breaking 400.
The obstacle in my way is the partially-overcome habit of snap-shooting, releasing as soon as the sight picture looks great.
**n Of course, for an online tournament, we could just post our scores -- and Dave, I think you will be outscoring me on a regular basis for some time to come -- and I hope that I will be outscoring many for some time to come -- and that may not change from week to week. And if it never changes it isn't as interesting as it could be.
